blue striped portable double travel hammock with standI myself love to lounge in hammocks. There is something about them that is reminiscent to that of being on a beach sipping mai tai’s and listening to Bob Marley. I went to the Caribbean once and no joke, every hotel you could possibly stay at had an area with hammocks set up. Now we may not live in the caribbean, but there’s no reason we can’t bring the caribbean to us. This portable hammock comes with room for two and also a hammock stand, so you can take it to your local beach, park, camping or just throw it up in your backyard.

Obviously this article is intended to be bullish on this particular item. If you don’t want to take our word for it, try the over 2,500 positive reviews it received on Amazon. Sometimes you can find a product that is highly reviewed online, but when it comes to your door, it is less than impressive. But something tells me that you can’t fool 2,500 reviewers.

The thing about hammocks is that they can be difficult to set up. Either they don’t come with a stand, and you have to use straps and find two acceptable distanced trees or posts to hang them from or they are the much bigger and spread out setups that come with a bulky stand. There is nothing at all wrong with either of those, but they have a place and time for them. This model falls in between those two, not quite as portable as the fold up in a bag option, but WAY easier to carry than the bigger spread out option.

How to Assemble this Portable Double Hammock

The first thing to know is what comes in the box. Pretty simply put you will receive the hammock, the stand with hardware, and the bag to put everything back into when you’re done. Not much else to say there, but if for any reason you do not have all the included materials, it’s best to contact the seller and see if they can ship it out to you.

Step 1: Once you’ve unboxed everything, you’re going to want to lay the parts out as best as possible so that you can ensure you have everything. It also makes it easier to visualize what it will look like when completed. All together you will have one crossbar, two leg braces, and two frame bars to where the hammock attaches to. Also you will want to ensure that you have all the necessary hardware to connect the components.

Step 2: Take both leg braces and insert them into the crossbar. Attach them to each other with the provided hand screws and also be sure to place the third hand screw in the middle of the crossbar on the bottom side. This will provide additional support for the stand.

Step 3: The next step is to attach both frame bars(the part that sticks upright and you attach the hammock to) to both leg braces. You will need to do this to each side and then insert a hand screw bolt to help secure the connection. At this point you should be about 7 minutes into installation. Piece of cake so far.

Step 4: Take the provided J hooks and attach them to each frame bar. You want to make sure the hooks face down and are sticking out on the outside of each frame bar. Attach each J hook by using the included curved washer and wing nut.

One nice feature about this is that there are several pre drilled holes so you can adjust the height to your desired level. In the next step you will be wrapping the hammock itself around each hook and it is imperative to get this step right. If you find yourself getting confused just step back, scratch your head, and just think about it. It’s pretty straight forward.

Step 5: This is what we call the home stretch. At this point all you need to do is lay your hammock out end to end and make sure none of the strings are tangled. Once you have done this, you can wrap each end of the hammock over the frame bar and onto the J-hook. Now you have pretty much finished the installation and you can fluff and situate it so that it fits your desired comfort level.

All in all it takes less than 15 minutes to assemble barring any setbacks. What’s nice about that is when it comes time to disassemble it only takes about ten minutes. Very convenient if you are on a quick trip to the park or just camping and laying next to your vehicle or RV. If you happen to have any issues assembling this, please review the steps above and make sure to take your time and think through it.

If you’re still having issues, I tell you what. Leave me a comment below and I will have my 6 year old explain it to you. I’m only slightly kidding and just want to be very clear that it is quite simple to assemble and take down. As always if you have any questions please feel free to contact us or just leave us some general feedback.

We love to hear it. We’d also like to thank the folks at Vivere for the great instructional video on Youtube.  It makes installation so much easier.
